Sokol Beqiri dhe OJQ Balkan Sun Flowers Kosova, organizuan nj\u00eb happening n\u00eb ambientet e \u00c7arshis\u00eb s\u00eb Gjat\u00eb t\u00eb Pej\u00ebs, e shkat\u00ebrruar dhe djegur t\u00ebr\u00ebsisht gjat\u00eb luft\u00ebs. N\u00eb Pej\u00ebn q\u00eb ishte \u00e7liruar disa muaj m\u00eb par\u00eb, p\u00ebrdit\u00ebshm\u00ebria e g\u00ebrmadhave t\u00eb dyqaneve t\u00eb \u00c7arshis\u00eb, ku po mbizot\u00ebronin pleh\u00ebrat, sfidonte durimin e qytetar\u00ebve. Si arterie kryesore e jet\u00ebs urbane, \u00c7arshia \u201cvajtonte\u201d kthimin n\u00eb funksion.. Ish pronar\u00ebt vendosnin standa t\u00eb improvizuara n\u00eb trotuare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ruins in the background stood as a scenography of the horror that had been lived. The organizers of the \u201c\u00c7arshia Happening\u201d aimed to raise awareness about the need for civic activism. Against the backdrop of rock music, solo singing, and the cheerful buzz of hundreds of children, the artists activated their imagination. Over the course of four hours, the Bazaar transformed from a scene of desolation into a space celebrating joy.\n\u201cWe experienced the pleasure of a different kind of day amid the bleakness of postwar life,\u201d said one of the artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group of artists responded with diverse concepts in confronting the atrocities of war. The interventions in the environment, which already possessed a pronounced figurative expressiveness, were a challenge for them, especially since the duration of the performance was limited to just a few hours, without prior preparations or sketches. The artists, like the children, followed the impulse of spontaneity, engaging in immediate, on-the-spot actions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next morning, after the performance had ended, the artists saw a group of craftsmen who had begun repairing one of the shops in the Bazaar. Life was coming back\u2026 I myself, as a spectator at the performance of October 30, 1999, had set out with a camera and a few rolls of film. The photographs I took recorded the course of the happening. It turned out they were the only ones that documented almost the entirety of the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had also written an article about the happening, which I published in the magazine Sheshi, titled \u201cMake Art Not War.\u201d For the reopening of the Gallery Hani i 2 Robert\u00ebve, I thought it would be fitting that, after a quarter of a century, today\u2019s art-loving audience should see this photo story as a testament to the significance and uniqueness of the Happening in Peja\u2019s \u00c7arshia e Gjat\u00eb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
