Valentina Elshani makes her return to art after many years of creative silence.
Aty ku morri pjesë në ekspozitën e klasës të studentëve të Xhevdet Xhafës në vitin 2001, ajo mbajti edhe ekspozitën e parë personale në vitin 2005. Tani që i është rikthyer krijimtarisë artistike pasi që e ndërpreu për gati dy dekada, Valentina ekspozon, me ftesën e Hanit të 2 Robertëve, ciklin e ri të pikturave të punuara me akrilik. Disa nga pikturat janë reminishencë e veprave të vitit 2005, me një stil karakteristik të figuracionit minimalist (veprat si Transformation, Inspiration, Your new way…) Ndërkaq, te pikturat tjera. ndonëse motivi kryesor mbetet figura e gruas, artistja është në kërkim të mënyrës tjetër të shprehjes.
Whereas previously the woman was depicted through stylized lines in abstracto, more as a graceful silhouette adorned with elements of clothing (a coat, a collar, a hat) and blooming buds in alluring colors that gave the paintings a decorative emphasis, now she portrays the woman in realistic forms, aiming to convey the emotions of a dramatic transformation in her life.
The artist remains restrained in her means of expression, she renders the realistic figure in sketch-like form, using quick brushstrokes and minimal accentuation of body posture and facial expression to radiate a post-traumatic emotional state. A significant shift can be observed in the painting of the woman in a swimsuit (You Are Good Enough the Way You Are), where a medallion or rose flower is placed on her chest, over the heart.
Even more expressive is the portrait bust of a woman with black hair, executed in bold, expressive strokes in a monochrome grey palette. The woman, perhaps a reflection of the artist herself, is smiling, accompanied by a resonant inscription: I am free, a cry of liberation that seems to serve as the leitmotif for the other portraits of women. Together, the cycle outlines a mood of emotional balance and rediscovered joy, following a turning point and recovery from a life-altering experience that had long stood in the way of fulfilling her youthful dreams.
